I am a Lecturer in Economics at Birmingham City University Business School, with a PhD in Economics of Industry and Technology from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ, Brazil).
With over a decade of experience in research and policy engagement, my work bridges academia and real-world impact. I specialise in the Economics of Innovation and International Business, focusing on innovation strategies, industrial policy, and STI policies, particularly within the pharmaceutical and health sectors. Using qualitative research and primary data collection, I tackle complex economic challenges, offering insights that inform policy and guide industry leaders.
Beyond research, I actively collaborate with public institutions and non-governmental organisations, providing evidence-based recommendations and supporting entrepreneurs in developing innovative strategies. My mission is to translate rigorous economic analysis into actionable solutions that drive sustainable innovation and economic growth.
I am passionate about teaching and supervising students in the areas above, and I thrive on engaging with audiences beyond academia to share insights and spark meaningful discussions.
This is my LinkedIn profile. You can also find my work on Google Scholar and ResearchGate (though they’re not always up to date).
